Amazon.com Review Still crafted in the village of Ibach, Switzerland, Swiss Army knives have been known for their quality and craftsmanship since they were introduced over 100 years ago. The deluxe SwissChamp XLT is fine example of these well-crafted tools. The XLT is the ultimate in portable pocket knives with 50 tools packed on its 3-1/2-inch-long frame and encased in translucent red plastic that lets you glimpse the inner workings of the knife. The 50 tools include large and small knife blades; a nail file with a nail cleaner, metal file, and metal saw; a pharmaceutical spatula; scissors; a wood saw; a fish scaler with a hook disgorger and ruler; a pruning blade; an electrician's blade with a wire scraper; a case with 4 mm slotted, Phillips 2, 4 mm Hex, and Torx 8, 10, and 15 bits; a wrench with a 5 mm female Hex drive for D-SUB connectors, a 4 mm female Hex drive for the bits, and Phillips 0 and 1 bits; pliers with wire cutters and a wire crimping tool; a magnifying glass; a Phillips screwdriver; a cap lifter with a 6 mm screwdriver and wire bender; a can opener with a 3 mm screwdriver; a corkscrew; a chisel; a universal hook; a 2 mm fine screwdriver; a reamer; a punch and sewing eye; tweezers; a toothpick; a ballpoint pen; a straight pin; a mini screwdriver; and a key ring. All tools are made of first-class stainless steel and are designed to be multifunctional in numerous situations--for example, the ballpoint pen also sets DIP switches. Second-to-None August 24, 2010 GENE J. MARTIN (PFLUGERVILLE,TEXAS) This is my second XLT and for two very good reasons - Quality and Functionality. I own several other "MultiTools", including (but not limited to) Victorinox. For my various uses, this seems to be the best of the best. It is NOT oversized or bulky to carry, yet it has every basic function that a camper/outdoors person, hobbyist, or do-it- yourselfer might need. I was so impressed with the first XLT that the second one is going into my RV (a mini-motorhome). As other reviewers have pointed out, there are many less and more expensive knives of this type on the market today, but once again, you get what you pay for. It is my belief that no matter how fancy an item like this might be, it is totally useless if it does not do the job that it was designed for. By the same token, a cheap knife often results in failure during use AND subsequent personal injury. The XLT might be referred to as a "knife", but it truly is so much more. Well worth the money. One note: Buy the carry case/sheath also; it adds to the convenience in every day use.
Great tool June 16, 2010 D Pirahna (Fl) Bought this mainly for Hurricane aftermath, but found that is very handy for daily use around the house. Very handy, I am very pleased with my purchase and the service was speedy.
Swiss Champ xlt is Awesome! March 24, 2010 Rebecca Renshaw I use my swiss champ xlt on a daily basis. Whether it's driving screws, cutting wires, cutting wood, and even uncorking wine bottles. It is my most prized possession.
every scout's dream December 8, 2009 Sean O'Brien (Yorktown, VA) I bought myself the Swiss Champ XLT as a present for getting my new SysAdmin job, and I've used it at work every day since I got it. Built with Swiss precision and has everything you'll ever need. A tad heavy, but for me it's worth it. Absolutely love this thing.
All you would need in a SAK! July 9, 2009 Steven Peterson (Nevada, USA) Just an amazing piece of engineering. I keep looking at it wondering how they crammed everything into it. It has everything I would need and so far I haven't lacked a tool for a job. It's a bit pricey and there are surely other models that are cheaper. But, for those who like to collect, this is a great one to have. I could see how a smaller model would be a little easier to use in some situations, but this one is not overly large. It fits comfortably in my hand and in some situations the size had been an advantage.
