Product Description The Swiss Army Locksmith is a knife with a selection of ten useful tools. Precision crafted in Switzerland, this knife is constructed with an acid-resistant plastic and aluminum handle, and 100-percent stainless-steel components that will hold their edge and last for years. The Locksmith is lightweight and measures 4.375 inches when closed. This Swiss Army knife features: large locking blade; Phillips screwdriver; can opener with small screwdriver; bottle opener with large screwdriver and wire stripper; reamer; key ring; wood saw; and metal saw with metal file. | Customer Reviews: Excellent knife March 1, 2009 Harold the Heron Victorinox produces yet another well-designed, solid utility knife. This particular knife is 111mm (4.37 inches) long while closed, and carries well in Victorinox's Large Lockblade Pouch (sold separately).
The blades (straight blade and wood saw) are quality steel with an excellent finish. The wood saw is double-toothed and locks in place. The metal file is also quite sturdy and suitable for most, if not all, everyday tasks. The flathead screwdrivers are both thick; the larger of the two is suitable for light prying and the smaller is sufficient for most average-sized screws or larger.
The carbon sides are lightly textured and the contoured grip is easy to hold, even with gloved hands.
This knife falls into the larger half of Victorinox's lineup (my other Victorinox knife is Tinker I've owned for nearly a decade), and does not share pocket space well. When placed in the pouch, it sits nicely on the belt without being too heavy.
Great configuration January 5, 2009 Glenn A. Buskirk (Maple Grove, MN USA) I bought one of these for my son for Christmas. He is a Victorinox collector and can identify any model by its blade configuration. We think this knife has a great set of tools. Unlike my own One Hand Trekker, the Locksmith has a plain-edge blade (non-serrated). I like the One-hand opening blade of the OHT, but wish it was plain edge too. My son thinks the Locksmith is ideal.
Great Knife February 16, 2008 Dan Mimms (East Texas) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This knife was bought to include in a survival kit...it never made it there. It is just too handy to put away and not carry. I bought it a case and it rides my hip on all my outdoors excursions.
My Favorite SAK January 20, 2008 D. Edwards (Pennsylvania, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I wanted to buy one SAK that had everything I wanted in it without having too much extra, and I ended up with the Locksmith. It's definitely a bigger (length AND width) knife and, perhaps, too big to always carry in your pocket, but it's not so big that you couldn't carry it in your pocket. Actually, I've got it in my pocket right now, but, for real, it is on the bigger side of "pocket knife." The great size makes for some great capabilities though, and the Locksmith is, like all Victorinox SAK's, of great quality. The liner-lock blade design functions well and still lets the knife keep the look of a real SAK. The scales are not made of cellidor or Alox but are of Nylon - gives it a lightweight plastic feeling which isn't the greatest, but it's still durable and tasteful - and heck it's in black. What more could you want?
A Great Pocketknife for the Price But Be Prepared for the Size January 9, 2007 Keep Smiling (Oklahoma USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I bought this pocketknife as a gift to replace my husband's smaller lighter Swiss Army pocketknife. This version is a wonderful, heavyduty pocketknife, with practical utility purposes, but be prepared to receive a much larger and heavier version of its smaller lightweight relatives. It is too heavy and bulky for my husband to carry in his pocket, he said that he would have to wear a sheath on his belt to hold it comfortably. However, he loved it and wanted to keep it anyway. He still has the smaller version that he has carried for years and still does in his pocket, and the new pocketknife has found a home in the glove compartment of his car.
